| Antico Molino Rosso is located in Buttapietra, near Verona, in the Po Valley, and dates back to the 16th century. The entire family has worked and produced at the family firm, first the grandfather Armando, then the father Remo, and now the son Gaetano. Molino Rosso still has a fully functioning paddle wheel, dating back to 1858, which at one time was used to run the whole plant. Antico Molino Rosso has always stone-ground its flour and owns several early 20th century millstones, which, after being restored together with the rest of the plant, are still used for milling Organic grain. The family's long-standing passion and love for flour milling, Gaetano Mirandola's appreciation for a healthy, balanced diet, and his understanding of the importance of reintroducing organic grains and organic wholemeal flour, have ensured that Antico Molino Rosso is now considered an authority on organic flour production. The company has changed a lot over the years. Although it is still a small-scale business (2,500 m2 of covered premises immersed in 23,000 m2 of agricultural land) with about 20 employees, it is a certified and organised company with a clear and important philosophy. Some of the business's most important activities include: - encouraging farmers to cultivate using organic methods by conveying the values of environmentally friendly farming; - reintroducing the many ancient varieties of grains (such as wheat, spelt, khorasan or Kamut®, rice, oats, barley, saragolla, durum wheat, Senatore Cappelli Akrux®, rye and einkorn); - continuing to raise awareness of organic farming, by organising training for professionals and end consumers. Gaetano Mirandola
Antico Molino Rosso takes great care over the entire production process, from planting to delivery, which sets off from warehouses acclimatized to guarantee optimum conditions. |
